Friday Thoughts from Pastor Tim - May 19

Dear Church Family –

I am the sum total of my commitments…and so are you. Think about it. You are who you are because of your commitment to your spouse, to your profession, to your God.

In America today, we have a clash of commitments. People are committed to a certain ideology, a certain worldview, and that commitment leads to conflict with differing worldviews.

The key, or test, is:

Is your worldview true?

Does it conform to reality?

Does it align with the collected wisdom of the past?

What kind of a world does it lead to?

Does it support the discipline and effort that leads to success, or does it create a victim mentality and welfare mentality?

Where are your commitments leading you today?

This Sunday, we’ll be hearing some of our teens express their commitment to Christ and His Word and ways. Next Sunday we’ll hear from a few more, and then they’ll all be baptized next Sunday. It’s a deeply significant time. We are the sum total of our commitments.

And here’s the great thing: when we commit our lives to Christ, we discover that His will for our lives is good, and right, and perfect!

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2)

We’re going to talk about that more Sunday morning as we look at 2 Timothy 1:1-7. See you then!

Praising God for the rain and enjoying my commitments! – Pastor Tim
