Dear Church Family –
One of the great things about God is that He wants us to know Him. And He has created life to show evidence to lead us to Him—like mountains and oceans, like kind, giving people, like marriage.
We’re having a Marriage Conference this Sunday at Emmaus Church, and it’s not just so you can be happier. That’s a wonderful by-product! We’re having a marriage conference because marriage shows Christ to the world, makes us more like Christ, raises the next generation in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and supports godliness in the world.
Yesterday I was intrigued to read “The Story of Marriage in Seven Verses,” by David Mathis with Desiring God Ministries.
1. Genesis 1:27 - “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
2. Genesis 2:24 - “A man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
3. Matthew 19:6 – “So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
4. Ephesians 4:32 – “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
5. Colossians 3:19 - “Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.”
6. Colossians 3:18 - “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.”
7. Ephesians 5:32 - “This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.”
