Monday Thoughts from Pastor Tim

Dear Church Family –

I marvel that God is always at work in our world, even in the most surprising places!

Many secular universities in America are strongholds of woke ideology, atheism, and anti-Israel demonstrations.  But God is at work!

Last September, 5,000 students attended a worship service at Auburn University and 200 were spontaneously baptized.  Now, three weeks ago, 6,000 students attended a worship event at Mississippi State University.  Many students attending said their lives are forever changed.

I prayed for those students this morning—

that their decisions for Christ will be real and transforming,

that they will daily walk with God in His Word and in supportive fellowship with other Christians,

that the mass event will open doors of spiritual conversation with other students,

that this worship event will be the start of an ever-deepening faith in the lives of those who responded,

that mature Christians and established campus ministries will be there to help the students grow in Christ.

And that reminded me to pray for our campus missionaries from Emmaus Church--

Levi and Katie Boyenger – CRU K State

Allen and Marabeth Busenitz – International Students – Purdue University in Indiana

Joel and Melissa Didier – CRU Burkina Faso

Cliff and Connie Harder – International Students – KU

Eric and Lauren Busenitz, Karlin and Caroline Wiebe, Shannon Busenitz, Lucy Entz, Adrian Spencer, and Alex Thiemann – CRU Butler Community College

“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.”  (Colossians 4:2-4)

Life is filled with both good gifts from God, and difficult challenges.  In the midst of darkness and trials, God gives special signs of His love and care—and encouragement that He is at work!

Saturday, we said goodbye to Delmer Wiebe who went home to heaven last week.  I thought of Delmer this morning, and of how God gives good gifts along the road of life, when I read C.S. Lewis’s poignant observation: “Our Father refreshes us on the journey with some pleasant inns, but will not encourage us to mistake them for home.”

Thanks for your friendship and partnership along the journey.  Thanks for your part in shining light and making a difference for Christ in our world.  And thanks for being part of God’s work in the world.  -  Pastor Tim
