Wednesday Thoughts from Pastor Tim - February 7

Dear Church Family –

With current hints of Russia and Iran lining up against Israel, the Biblical outline of end time events seems to be taking shape.

God has given us an immense amount of material about end times, and end time events.  Over 20% of the Bible is prophecy.  This is tremendous hope in a world of fear!

This morning I read a headline from the Jerusalem Post: “Iran closer than ever to weaponizing uranium, building nuclear bomb.”  That’s alarming, but I was also reminded this morning of why God has given us so much prophetic material in the Bible.

Reading and studying the Bible on the end times…

  • brings the believer hope

  • provides an answer to evil in the world

  • reminds us Satan will be judged

  • promises a blessing from God

  • provides an opportunity to share the gospel

  • lifts Jesus up

  • reminds us God keeps His promises to Israel and us

As we hear news from Israel and the Middle East, maybe this would be a good time to reread the book of Revelation, or 1 and 2 Thessalonians.

The book of Revelation starts and ends with these “bookends:”

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it, because the time is near.” (Rev 1:3)

“Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” (Rev 22:7)

With hope and joy in Christ and the future – Pastor Tim
