Wednesday Thoughts from Pastor Tim - November 13

Dear Church Family –

This Saturday, there will be a wedding at Emmaus Church (Megan Wiebe and Will Bell).

Sunday, there will be a marriage conference.

Marriage is a big deal!  Marriage is God’s design for life companionship, for the nurture of the next generation, and for the stability of society,

As the home goes, so goes the nation.  Strong marriages make for a strong society.

That’s why what our nation thinks of marriage is a big deal.

It’s not just a social construct.

It’s not just an outmoded tradition.

It’s not just a governmental expedient to deal with property rights and child custody.

It’s not just a label that can be put on any union.

No, marriage is God’s idea, for our blessing and joy, and for the strength of society.  God defined marriage as the union of one man and one woman for life.  “...a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh” (Gen. 2:24).

And that’s why we’re having a marriage conference this coming Sunday.  Because God has made marriage critical to our personal lives, to our children, and to our nation, it’s only logical that Satan would attack it….and attack it he does!

At Emmaus Church, we want to do all we can to help marriages be strong and joyful.  Our Marriage Conference this Sunday gives you an opportunity…

To build and strengthen your marriage.

To encourage others in their marriage.

To gain some tools to help others, in your extended family or in your community, with their marriage.

To praise and bless God for the gift of marriage.

Our Marriage Conference this Sunday will include the Sunday School Hour, the Morning Worship Service, and two sessions Sunday night with a chili supper between!

The first session will be 9:30 to 10:20 in the sanctuary.

The second session will be our regular worship service with singing and praying.  Our guest speaker will bring a Bible message from Ephesians 5 about how marriage pictures our relationship with Christ.

The third session will start at 5:00pm followed by Chili and session 4.

Thanks to our Sunday Evening committee for organizing this, and thanks to you for supporting, praying for, and building loving, lasting marriages! - “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.” (Ephesians 5:31-32). – Pastor Tim
